Alia Bhatt (born 15 March 1993) is an Indian actress and model who appears in Bollywood films. Born into a family where her parents, Mahesh Bhatt and Soni Razdan, and elder sister Pooja Bhatt were actors and film makers, Bhatt made her acting debut at the age of 19 with Karan Johar's Student Of The Year(2012), which was a box-office success. Alia was born into a Muslim family in Mumbai, India. Her father Mahesh Bhatt, a director was converted to Islam before married to her mother actress Soni Razdan, a Muslim. She has one sister Shaheen Bhatt, a half sister Pooja Bhatt, and a half brother Rahul Bhatt. Actor Emraan Hashmi, director Mohit Suriand Vishesh Bhattare her cousins and producer Mukesh Bhattis her uncle. [ 2 ]Alia has completed high-school from Jamnabai Narsee School IBDP in May 2011.

Bhatt's first movie role was as a child artist when with Sangharsh(1999), starring Akshay Kumarand Preity Zintawhere she played the younger Zinta. [ 3 ]
In 2012, Bhatt made her debut in Karan Johar's Student Of The Yearalong with Sidharth Malhotra and Varun Dhawan. [ 4 ]Her performance were appreciated with film critic Taran Adarsh from Bollywood Hungamastating, "Alia's role is reminiscent of Kareena Kapoorin Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham. She has also been confirmed t0 be the leading lady in Karan Johar's production Humpty Shama Ki Dulhania opposite Student Of The Yearco star Varun Dhawan and will also be seen alongside Ranbir Kapoor and Priyanka Choprain Anurag Basu's Jagga Jasoos.
